Double cleansing is a cleansing method that Koreans do every night. You start with an oil cleanser, and use a water based cleanser second. The oil-based cleanser is what removes makeup and impurities. I use the Elemis Pro-Collagen Cleansing Balm. I apply to dry skin, massage and remove with a damp muslin cloth.
I personally like the cleansing balm because I can get a lymphatic drainage massage in too. By the way, if you have oily skin, don’t stray away from cleansing with an oil based balm. It can actually really help to balance your skin. You’ll notice that your skin is less shiny over time. If you’re using a harsh cleanser that strips your natural oils, your skin will overcompensate with excess sebum production.
After that, use your typical water-based cleanser. I use the Skin EssentiA Low Foam Cleansing Gel from Environ. It’s a simple gel cleanser that is super mild and calming. I like to follow the same cleansing routine in the morning, but it’s most important at night. Double cleansing ensures that you’re removing everything that could be blocking your pores. Our skin does the majority of its regenerating at night, so we want to make sure it has the chance.
